Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery in Palm Springs & Hemet, CA

Nose Conditions:

There are many problems that can occur with a nose, breathing problems, discharge, loss of sense of smell, acute and chronic sinusitis, nose bleeding amongst others. The causes of these symptoms can often be from a deviated septum, allergy, viral and bacterial infection, polyps and benign and malignant tumor. Usually initial treatment would be medical management followed by surgery if required. The are numerous procedures relating to nose problems some of which are as follows:

Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty is a safe and effective sinus procedure for chronic sinusitis patients for whom regular medical management was unsuccessful. This is a procedure that can be completed in the office without cutting tissue in the nose so the patient will have a fast recovery.

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

For patients with more extensive sinus issues, including polyps, benign and malignant tumor, surgery is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. This procedure is imaging guided with 3 dimensional CT. This minimally invasive procedure is specifically designed to precisely remove the diseased tissue whilst minimizing the risk to the eye and brain.

Septoplasty

For patients with nasal obstruction caused by a deviated septum, surgery is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. The deviated bone or cartilage is removed to create a clear air passage.

Ear Conditions:

Commonly seen problems with the ear are, itching, pain, bleeding, fluid drainage, hearing loss, ringing and dizziness amongst others. The causes can be ear wax impaction, foreign body in ear, trauma, bacterial and fungal infection, allergy, loud noise exposure, ear drum perforation and medication side effects.

Microscope examination will identify outer and middle ear problems. Any ear wax, foreign body and or discharge can be removed by suctioning usually in the office. For hearing loss, ringing and dizziness, a hearing test and dizzy test and examination would usually be required. The results of the tests would dictate the treatment to follow.

Ear Tube Placement

For middle ear effusion the placement of an ear tube is usually required if the medical management shows no improvement after three months. This procedure will be done under the microscope either in the office or in operating room.

Throat Procedures:

The common problems associated with the throat are, sore throat, swallowing, voice change, hoarseness, coughing, breathing, foreign body sensation amongst others. The causes are numerous including, viral and bacterial infection, laryngopharyngeal reflux, voice abuse, vocal cord nodules and polyps, benign and malignant tumor.

Flexible Laryngoscopy

Examination is conducted in the office using a fibroptic flexible scope through the nose to visualize nose, nasal pharynx, hypopharynx and larynx to identify abnormalities.

Laryngoscopy

This is an operating room procedure under general anesthesia using a laryngoscope to directly visualize the throat and take biopsy should a lesion be found.

Tonsillectomy

This is an operating room procedure under general anesthesia to remove enlarged or inflamed tonsils

Adenoidectomy

This is an operating room procedure under general anesthesia, to remove an enlarged adenoid to improve breathing, sinus drainage.
